Barefoot Studio was founded in 1995 and is owned by Matthew and Holly Krepps. In the fall of 2004, the studio moved to a new location: 3615 Old Cantrell Road behind the restaurant Loca Luna in the Riverdale business district in Little Rock, Arkansas. The new studio has two spacious practice spaces and a beautiful retail and sitting area for a combined 4000 square feet of space. The studio is open seven days a week and offers classes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced practice. Private sessions can also be arranged and space is available for individuals to practice on their own. A six week introductory course to yoga is offered several times a year. It is suggested, although not mandatory, that students attend the introductory course prior to taking other classes. Some of the classes are grouped according to experience. Generally, the sessions designated as Level 1 are for beginners. For a Level 2 class it is suggested that students have some familiarity with the basic standing postures, prone backbends, and twisting, and have been practicing at least once a week for approximately 2-3 months. For a level 3 class, students should have maintained a regular practice for at least 6 months to a year, and should have some experience at adapting various postures to meet their own level of development. Level 4 classes require prior permission of the instructor before attending.

Several times a year nationally known and recognized teachers offer workshops at the studio: in recent years Eric Schiffmann, Ana Forrest, Rod Stryker, Doug Keller, Shiva Rea, and Robert Svoboda.

Barefoot also offers a comprehensive 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Program. The training is offered in 50 hour increments over a 12 month period. It is designed to meet the certification requirements of the Yoga Teacher Alliance.
It prepares students in asana, pranayama, Yoga philosophy, state of the art teaching methods, ethics and other skills needed to safely and confidently teach yoga. Teacher Trainings may also be attended by senior stuadents who wish to deepen their practice. Classes are also offered toward the 500 hour Professional Level Certification.

BAREFOOT'S TRAINING METHOD
Barefoot Studio’s primary teacher Mathew Krepps was one of the first four yogis in the United States to be certified to teach Dynamic Yoga by Hatha yoga adept Godfrey Devereux. The practices and class divisions at Barefoot are based on the universal principles that Mr. Devereux has distilled throughout his years of extensive practice and teaching. Devereux, who has authored several books on yoga including the acclaimed Dynamic Yoga, created the training method as a distillation and synthesis of the essential elements of classical hatha yoga practice. It is not a new type of Hatha yoga. Its roots are firmly planted in the tradition of practices that originated from the work of Professor Sri T. Krishnamacharya of Mysore, South India. This is the same source from which Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Iyengar Yoga and Viniyoga originated. Dynamic Yoga employs the essential techniques found in each of these major styles of practice. It is therefore the yoga of posture, alignment, flow, and conscious pragmatic progression. It is centered upon the breath and employs focused, sensitive, awareness. It uses the deep transformational energies of human existence for the purposes of revealing our true nature.
